Tips for Better Summer Reading

1.  Read 4-6 chapters per week.  Pace your time and make sure you are relaxed when reading.

2.  Write down each character's name.  Describe the character's personality and relationship with other characters.

3.  Identify the protagonist(s), the main character(s) in the story.

4.  Identify the problem(s)/conflict that the main character is facing and the opposing force (antagonist) that is causing the problem for the main character.

5.  Summarize the main events and include page numbers for the most important incidents.

6.  Did the main character overcome his/her problem?  How does the story end?

7.  Determine the theme or lesson learned from reading the book.

8.  Use the internet and quiz yourself on each work read.
